Introduction of Petroleum Resin

Petroleum resin is a thermoplastic resin produced from the C5 and C9 fractions produced by petroleum cracking through pre-treatment, polymerization, distillation and other processes. It is not a polymer, but an oligomer with a molecular weight between 300-3000.

C9 petroleum resin, also known as aromatic petroleum resin, is divided into thermal polymerization, cold polymerization, tar and other types. Among them, cold polymerization products are light in color, good in quality, and have an average molecular weight of 2,000 to 5,000. They are light yellow to light brown flakes, granules or lumps. The performance and role of petroleum resin in different industries:

1. Paint

Adding petroleum resin to paint can increase the gloss of the paint and improve the adhesion, hardness, acid resistance and alkali resistance of the paint film.

2. Rubber

Adding petroleum resin to rubber can play a role in thickening, reinforcing and softening. In particular, the addition of C5/C9 copolymer resin can not only increase the adhesion between rubber particles, but also improve the adhesion between rubber particles and cords, making it suitable for high-demand rubber products such as radial tires.

3. Adhesive industry

Adding petroleum resin to adhesives and pressure-sensitive tapes can improve the adhesion, acid resistance, alkali resistance and water resistance of the adhesive, and can effectively reduce production costs.

4. Ink industry

Adding petroleum resin to ink can develop color, dry quickly, brighten, and improve printing performance.

5. Paint industry

As a coating for road signs and road markings, petroleum resin has good adhesion to concrete or asphalt pavement, good abrasion resistance and water resistance, good affinity with inorganic substances, easy coating, good weather resistance, It dries quickly, has high solidity, and can improve the physical and chemical properties of the layer, improve UV resistance and weather resistance.
