Application Scenarios of Flocculant PAM

 

Polyacrylamide(PAM) is a type of flocculant.

Main categories:

anionic polyacrylamide (APAM),

cationic polyacrylamide (CPAM),

nonionic polyacrylamide (NPAM).

 

It is widely used in water treatment, sugar making, Poultry farming, oil extraction, textile, printing and dyeing, papermaking, mineral processing, coal washing, medicine, building materials, agriculture and other industries.

1. Sewage treatment

(1) Sewage treatment: PAM can remove suspended particles, colloids and other impurities in sewage, accelerate sedimentation, reduce turbidity, and is widely used in urban domestic sewage and industrial wastewater treatment.

(2) Sludge dehydration: C-PAM can be used for sludge treatment to reduce the water content of sludge

(3) Raw water treatment: In water plants, PAM is used for coagulation and clarification of raw water to make it meet the standards for domestic water.

2. Oil extraction

(1) Drilling fluid preparation: PAM is used to adjust the rheology of drilling fluid to ensure smooth drilling.

(2) Improve oil recovery: In the tertiary oil recovery stage, PAM increases the oil recovery rate by increasing the viscosity of the displacement fluid.

(3) Oilfield chemicals: PAM is used as a lubricant, suspending agent, and clay stabilizer.

3. Papermaking industry

(1) Paper enhancer: PAM improves the strength and water filtration performance of paper, reduces the loss of raw materials, and enhances the quality of paper.

(2) Wastewater treatment: PAM is used for papermaking wastewater treatment to remove pollutants and purify wastewater through flocculation.

4. Textile printing and dyeing

(1) Printing and dyeing wastewater treatment: PAM can remove dyes and auxiliaries in printing and dyeing wastewater and purify wastewater.

‌‌‌‌‌(2) Sizing agent: PAM is used as a textile sizing agent to improve the thickening effect of the slurry and improve the quality of textiles.

5. Agriculture

Soil improvement: PAM is used to increase the stability of soil aggregates, reduce soil erosion, improve soil water retention and fertilizer utilization, and promote plant growth.

6. Mine water purification

PAM is used to flocculate and precipitate coal dust and mineral colloids in mine water to increase the water reuse rate.

‌7. Sugar factory

Polyacrylamide can quickly precipitate impurities and suspended matter in sugar juice through flocculation, thereby improving the purity of sugar juice and producing higher quality sugar products.

8. Poultry farming

PAM plays an important role in the treatment of poultry wastewater. Add dissolved polyaluminium chloride and then cationic polyacrylamide to effectively remove suspended matter and chemical oxygen demand (COD) in the wastewater.
