Xi lands in US for state visit, greeted by Trump at airport

On the afternoon of September 23 (local time), President Xi Jinping arrived in Washington for a state visit to the United States at the invitation of President Trump. He was welcomed at the airport by President Trump and the First Lady, and a grand welcoming ceremony was held by the U.S. side.

 In a written statement, Xi Jinping noted that China and the U.S. should be partners rather than rivals; he called for the implementation of previous consensuses, the building of a constructive relationship of strategic stability, and the exploration of a proper way for major powers to coexist, expressing his expectation that the visit would yield fruitful results. Xi was accompanied on the visit by Cai Qi and Wang Yi, and was warmly welcomed by overseas Chinese and students along the way.
