Dichloromethane is an organic compound with the chemical formula CH2Cl2. It is a colorless and transparent liquid with a pungent odor similar to ether. Slightly soluble in water, soluble in ethanol and ether, it is a non-flammable low-boiling point solvent under normal usage conditions. When its vapor reaches a high concentration in high-temperature air, a weakly burning mixed gas will be generated [4]. It is often used instead Flammable petroleum ether, diethyl ether, etc.

Application:

1. Used for grain fumigation and refrigeration of low-pressure refrigerators and air-conditioning devices.

2. Used as solvent, extraction agent and mutagen.

3. Used in the electronics industry. Commonly used as a cleaning and degreasing agent.

4. Used as dental local anesthetic, refrigerant, fire extinguishing agent, metal surface paint cleaning, degreasing and stripping agent.

5. Used as intermediates in organic synthesis.

Operations, handling, storage and transportation

Operation precautions: Avoid generating mist droplets during operation and wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Avoid allowing released vapors and mist droplets to enter the air in the work area. Work in a well-ventilated area and use minimum dosage. Emergency response equipment must be available at all times for fire extinguishing and leakage treatment. Empty storage containers may still contain hazardous residues. Do not operate near welding, flames or hot surfaces.

Storage notes:

1. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place away from direct sunlight.

2. Store away from heat sources, flames and incompatible substances, such as strong oxidants, strong acids, and nitric acid.

3. Store in appropriate labeled containers. Unused containers and empty buckets should be tightly covered. Avoid damage to containers and regularly inspect barrels for defects such as breakage or leakage. Containers that are galvanized or lined with Phenolic synthetic resin can reduce the possibility of decomposition of methylene chloride.

4. Limited storage. Post warning signs at appropriate places.

5. The storage area should be separated from the work area where employees are concentrated, and personnel should be restricted from accessing the area.

6. Use plastic water pipes that are approved for use with substances to unload poisons. The material may accumulate static electricity which may cause combustion.

Packaging and transportation: sealed packaging in galvanized iron barrels, 250kg per barrel, and can be transported by train, tanker, or car. It should be stored in a cool, dark, dry, well-ventilated place, and be protected from moisture.
